2022 Dr Nadeson Riesling

The Story: 
I started my Riesling journey with the Barrett’s vineyard in Henty, a sweet spot for this noble grape variety. Sadly in 2014, the vines were pulled, and the block sold for housing, thus, a new journey began to find another source of quality Riesling. In 2016 I found a great vineyard in Strathbogie, which produced a wine of intensity and drive. In 2017 I turned my hand to fruit from King Valley and Geelong. Again, the wine was delicious, but my heart still yearned for Henty. In 2018, after 12 years of working with Jack and Louis Doeven in Drumborg, they finally granted me access to their Riesling, and the result is exactly why I covet this cool Victorian region.

Our 2022 vintage was most ideal, being wet and cool. These conditions help preserve the aromatic freshness of Riesling. We aged the wine in foudre on its lees; this helped enrich the texture and body of the wine to balance the refreshing acidity and layers of fruit.  

The Wine: Think ripe, juicy lime, granny smith apples, melon, and passion fruit with a hint of spring blossom. This wine is luscious and refreshing with mouth-watering acidity that coats the palate with a rich mouth feel. Rest assured this wine will continue to develop flavours of spices and dried fruit in the coming years.
