2018 Pinot Gris
95 points, Halliday Wine Companion 2020
SPECIAL VALUE - wines considered special value for money

"Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, wild yeast ferment in a 1200l foudre and stainless steel. Australian pinot gris seldom displays complexity, but here you have it. Aromas range through rose water and poached pears, grape skin and ginger, a similar suite of flavours present on the long and textured palate. Juicy, slightly astringent acidity completes the finish."

2017 Que Syrah Syrah Shiraz
92 points, Halliday Wine Companion 2020

"Fruit from the Pyrenees, open ferment (in 3000l oak) with wild yeast, 10 months in oak. Plenty of spicy, earthy fruit on the bouquet with the time spent in oak (ferment and maturation) imparting some character of its own. Medium-bodied, juicy and savoury with a slightly high-toned impression which again might be something associated with the winemaking regime."

plus one bottle of each:

2017 Chardonnay
93 points, Halliday Wine Companion

"Wild yeast barrel-fermented, full mlf, 11 months in 1yo French puncheons. The deep colour gives an indication of what's to come. Rich aromas of nougat, butterscotch, peach and almond lead into a palate glycerous in texture and long in flavour with plenty of acidity. The quality is there, and it will be better when all the components have fully integrated."

2017 'The Bartl' Chardonnay
93 points, Halliday Wine Companion 2020

"Barrel-fermented and matured for 11 months in 60% new/40% 1yo French oak puncheons. 100% mlf. A deep gold colour in the glass. Aromas of toasted nuts and nougat with some ripe stone fruit and honey notes. Full-flavoured and viscous in texture with well-balanced acidity."

2015 Allegra Chardonnay
95 points, Halliday Wine Companion 2020

"Fermented in new French puncheons, full mlf, 12 months in oak. Ripe peach mingling with nutty oak and matchstick-like minerality on the bouquet. A rich and almost buttery palate with citrussy acidity that tightens the wine through the finish and lingers in the aftertaste."

2016 'il regalo di compleanno' Nebbiolo
94 points, Halliday Wine Companion 2020

"Open ferment, 33 days on skins, 15 months in a mixture of 3yo and 4yo puncheons. Distinctively varietal on the bouquet, the aromas ranging through sour cherry, dried rose petal and herb, cedary wood and liquorice/anise. Complexity of flavour is still to fully emerge, but there's a sense of depth on the palate and the length and tannin structure will hold it in good stead."

2015 Indra Shiraz
94 points, Halliday Wine Companion 2020

"80% whole-bunch fermented, 11 months in all new French oak. Only 25 dozen made. Both the whole bunch and oak are prominent on the bouquet, with gamey, cedary characters to the fore. Blackberry and briary fruit is more forward on the palate, matching it with layers of impressive tannin. There's a lot of depth here, but it needs time really unfold."

2017 Pinot Noir
95 points, Halliday Wine Companion 2020

"40% whole-bunch fermented, 11 months in 50/50% new and 1yo French oak. Shows the typical density and complexity of Lethbridge Pinot, with dark cherry, sour cherry, woody spice and bunchy/mulchy characters all involved. The depth and length of flavour is outstanding, as is the ripe and supple tannin."

2015 Hugo George Sangiovese Blend
93 points, Halliday Wine Companion 2020

"A blend of 70% sangiovese (fermented separately) with co-fermented merlot (25%) and cabernet franc (5%). Aged for 11 months in 100% new French oak. Plenty of berry fruit in the picture here as you might as expect from these varieties, with cherry, blackcurrant and mulberry included. It's juicy on the palate, with cedary oak and savoury tannins to finish."

2018 Dr Nadeson Riesling
95 points, Halliday Wine Companion 2020
SPECIAL VALUE - wines considered special value for money

"Fruit from Drumborg (Henty). This release is towards the sweeter end of off-dry in style which is worth noting. Ripe Autumnal fruits (apples, pears, quinces etc) provide the essential aromas and flavours, with just a hint of wild honey. The dimension of the mouthfeel, and the brilliantly fine and lingering acidity are the wine's most distinguishing and enticing features."
