The best examples of Gamay entice with crunchy red and blue fruits, with aromatic characters reminiscent of forest bushes. This is our third Gamay wine produced from the vineyard at Lethbridge, we were very excited to make it and hope you discover some of the characteristics we described above, but mostly we hope you enjoy drinking it.
From our old vines at Lethbridge, 80% whole bunch and aged in 100% new oak. Spicy perfumed nose, classic Mietta umami savouriness with delicate red fruit and an endless finish that will only get better with time.
La Gauche is 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc. The 2021 vintage was cool and very long, making it exceptional for these varieties. Le Gauche is characterized by cassis aromas with concentrated tannin & structure.
In 2022, while visiting friend Phillipe Viet in Beaujolais, Ray was offered a special parcel of fruit from biodynamically grown 100 year old Cru Régnié vines. This is the result.
Grenache (60%) Morvedre & Syrah. Cool fermented in large open top wooden fermenters with wild yeast for 20 days. No maceration just gentle pigeage and hand plunging. Pressed off with pressings included, settled then transferred into 500L 2 year old French Oak puncheons for 11 months.
Hugo George is not often made but when it is, it’s an absolute delight. Savory notes of sour cherries, lavender, and plump, juicy Victoria Plumbs. The back palate has a woodfired, smokey finish with sweet spices and cured meat.
El Matador, being the slayer of the bull, is a powerful character with sanguine characteristics. The wine mirrors the muse, with great power, sublime structure and savouriness. Dark plum, sun dried prunes and black olives with hints of raspberry and dried rose petal. It has a ferrous aspect with a dense powerful core, gentle tannins and very long finish.
The wine has notes of red satsuma plum interlaced with black tea, cardamom, sichuan pepper. Medium bodied with a lacey delicate tannin structure and significant length.
