2022 Cru Régnié Beaujolais

In 2022 Ray had the opportunity to travel to the home of Gamay Beaujolais, France. While there he had the privilege to work with a remarkable parcel of fruit from Cru Régnié, biodynamically grown from 100 year old vines. 

Beginning its journey at Domaine Phillipe Viet, this wine was wild fermented with extended skin contact skin and gentle cap management. The fruit was picked by hand and fermented with partial carbonic maceration using a layered fermentation process of crushed and whole bunch (20%) fruit. After a short maturation at Viet’s domaine, the wine was transported (temperature-controlled, of course) back to Geelong to finish its maturation in barrel at Lethbridge where it was then bottled on site in August 2023.

Our Cru Régnié shows lovely, concentrated fruit flavours, pretty red fruit, blossom and floral aromatics, followed by a lovely cunchy blueberry palate with vibrant berry fruit and the signature lethbridge length. A rich and flavourful wine.
