The Story: I started my Riesling journey with fruit from Barrett's vineyard in Henty, a sweet spot for this noble grape variety. Sadly, in 2014 the wvines were pulled, and the block sold for housing, thus a new journey began, to find another source of quality Riesling. 

In 2016 & 2017 i experimented with fruit from a few different sites, some up in the Victorian high country and others closer to home. I made some delicious wione and learnt a lot about clones and climate, but my heart still yearned for Henty. In 2018, after 12 years of working with Jack & Lois Doeven in Drumborg, they finally granted me access to their Riesling and the result is exactly why i covet this cool Victorian region. They are a long way out of town, so no fear of urban sprawl taking over this magnificent vineyard, at least not in my lifetime. I hope you enjoy this wine as much as I enjoyed making it. 

"Fermented and matured in seasoned foudre. A very bright green gold. Aromas of pure lime and just-picked white nectarines. Almost tastes drier than the standard riesling from '24 despite the fact that there's a touch more RS. The palate is richer and more textured, too, with a hint of ginger spice on the long, chalky finish. Delicious wine."  Philip Rich, Halliday, 96 Points
