The Story: Our 2015 vintage has been a bit like a Pacific Ring convention of up and coming winemakers, delegates include Katie and Chase from Oregon, Kento and Koji from Japan and representing California there was Sierra. Given the international status of Australian Shiraz they were all very curious as to the different characters expressed by Shiraz from different regions. While Shiraz grows well in many climates it does act as a barometer, warmer regions showing rich ripe fruit intensity and cooler regions expressing a more savory elegant character. We are not sure whether our crew were being polite but there was a lot of enthusiasm for our homegrown Geelong fruit producing a wine with a savory complexity, spicy and floral aromatics and fine tannins, balance is everything.
The Wine: Vibrant fruit coupled together with a savoury spicy backbone, this Shiraz displays fragrant white pepper and dried herbs.
