New Cellar Door Opening Times

Friday, 04 May 2012 01:47 Published in Wine Events
We are changing our cellar door opening times in 2012 to provide a more focused tasting experience.  We will now be open on the first and third weekend of each month for drop-ins, or by appointment on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or (03)5281 7279.  This will give us the chance to organise more structured benchmark tastings on weekends during the year, while still providing the Lethbridge hospitality at the cellar door on a regular basis.

Friends Pick Again

Monday, 26 March 2012 00:48 Published in Wine Events

After this years vintage got off to a flying start we thought it was all going to be over very quickly.  The recent cold weather has slowed things down, however, so we have had a small respite before our sprint for the finish line.  This has given us a rare opportunity to finish many of the wines and put them away in their barrels before the later-ripening varieties come in for processing.  As we have Merlot and friends ready to pick next weekend we have made a snap decision to host another friends pick.  Please see the events page for more details.

Friends Pick 2012

Friday, 02 March 2012 23:58 Published in Wine Events

The fruit for this vintage has started coming in very quickly despite the recent rain.  We have already processed quite a bit of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, including the Chardonnay from the Lethbridge vineyard.  We will be starting to pick Pinot Noir next week so we have decided to host the friends pick here on Sunday 11th March. If you would like to join us click here to go to the booking page.

Campbell Mattinson review of 2010 Pinot Noir

Lethbridge Pinot Noir 2010

Campbell Mattinson

2010 was a wetter, cooler vintage in southern Victoria and it did a lot of good for much of the local pinot noir. This one was cold soaked for ten days prior to wild yeast fermentation. It saw 30 percent whole bunches and 35 percent new oak. I liked this from the first sip. It’s tangy and refreshingly acidic but it has the flavour and tannin to support it. Earth, rhuburb, dark cherries, and sweet dry spices. Lots of grainy, sinewy dryness reaching out through the finish. Feels natural, balanced and long. Feels prickly and alive, in a good way. Drinks well now, though it will take kindly to some age too.
